YANKEES GET THIRD WIN OF SEASON, SECOND IN A ROW AGAINST ABERDEEN

Higahiokas walk-off single in the ninth gives Yankees third win. Higashioka’s walk-off single in the ninth gives Yankees third win.

Staten Island,NY–I don’t know what happened but all of a sudden the Yankee bats are finally awake. It was a 7 – 7 tie in the bottom of the ninth inning but the Yankees had a walk-off in their bones and won their second game in a row. The Yankees now have 3 wins under their belts and will look for more as they play Aberdeen once again. Winning pitcher Ronny Marte (Stats Below) was phenomenal in his inning of work giving up no hits, no walks, and struck out one. His record now improves to 2 – 0 and the Yankees record moves to 3 – 6. The Yankees have two more games against the Iron Birds before taking on the Lowell Spinners. Hopefully they can take this momentum into tomorrow night and make it three wins in a row.

Here is Tonight’s Winning Pitcher Ronny Marte’s Line:

WELCOME TO STATEN ISLAND!

University of North Carolina pitcher and 4th round draft pick Adam Warren was added to the Staten Island Yankees roster day before last and will hopefully bring some life to a struggling Staten Island pitching staff. Warren made 18 starts last season and had a 4.23 ERA in 83 innings of work. He also struck out 73 and walked 46, while opponents hit him at a .278 clip.

TOMORROW’S PITCHING MATCHUP:

ABERDEEN @ STATEN ISLAND

OLIVER PEREZ IN BROOKLYN

Perez struck out six batters and allowed just two hits as he dominated the Renegades through 5.0 shutout innings to earn the win.

  1. SI has inheritted the ability to get walk off hits, haha!

Why does the stat thing say Marte gave a home run, or am I misunderstanding the stats?

    • You must’ve read it wrong because he did not give up a HR. If he did the Iron Birds would have been winning going into the bottom of the 9th instead of it being tied.
