STATEN ISLAND, NY – The Spinners went out to a 2 – 0 lead early but the Yankees answered back to send the game into extra innings. When the Yankees tied the game it got undefeated starter Sean Black off the hook to keep his 6 – 0 record. Staten Island got runners into scoring position a few times but those runners stayed there and didn’t score until the bottom of the 8th inning which turned out to be too little too late. Mahoning Valley defeated Brooklyn last night to complete a two game sweep and to advance to the Championship Round. With Staten Island’s loss last night it puts both Lowell and Staten Island in a win or go home situation. If Thursday’s game is not played because of the weather game 3 will be played Saturday because no baseball will be played throughout the entire Minor Leagues in remembrance of the 9/11 attacks but no action will occur especially at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George because of it’s proximity to the site of the World Trade Center.

The third and final game of the Semi Finals will be tonight and here is the pitching matchup:

Perez (3-2) vs. Castillo (6-1)
