The game may have been delayed due to rain and the remembrance of 9/11 but the off time was just what Staten Island needed. Staten Island is headed to the championship is round and 5 innings in the second round is to thank for that. Yankee starter Kelvin Perez went 5 innings and gave up no earned runs on only 3 hits. The Yankees will have one more day off before facing Mahoning Valley in Game 1 of the New York Penn League Championship Series which is on Monday at 7 pm in Staten Island.

  1. Wow! Remember in the beginning of the season when the SIYs looked like they were going to have a bad year, look how fast they have turned that around.

    • Congrats to the team! Bring on those Scrappers!

      • The Scrappers are 0 – 3 against Staten Island this year so definitely bring on those Scrappers! Also thanks for commenting and checking out the blog! Come back often as I will have some great coverage of this Championship Round!

    • (In reply to Chris) I do remember and I remember us talking about the tough year the team had ahead of them and look where they are now!
