Yankees Drop Season Opener 2-0 in Brooklyn

Coney Island, NY– The defending NYPL Champion Staten Island Yankees started their 2012 campaign on a sour note after dropping game one of the season to the Cyclones at MCU Park. Brooklyn scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning and that was all the run production they needed as the Yankees had no answers offensively for the Cyclones. James Pazos took the loss for Staten Island while Dawrin Frias picked up the win for the Cyclones and Tyler Vanderheiden got his first save. Stefan Sabol and Cole Frenzel had an RBI each to make up all of Brooklyn’s offense. The Yankees mustered up only 4 hits while committing 2 fielding errors on the line score. Brooklyn’s line looked a little different with 2 runs, 6 hits and no errors. The two teams go at it again tonight but there will be a change in scenery as the Yankees have a chance to play in front of their home fans at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark for the first time this year. 7:00 start time for the home opener in St. George.
